So after my reflection on the train – the first speaker at Webstock, Elle Luna focused on finding the pathway that finds a balance between our “shoulds” and what we “must”do to meet our personal calling. While she recognised the potential tension between a job, a career and a calling the line that somehow took my breath away and keeps repeating itself in my head is:
“Where do you go to find a dream in real life?”
It made me think about dreams – I have been having a lot of them lately that seem to be saying “look around – maybe there are different options and pathways to fulfill the shoulds in your life”. In fact it was the nagging remnants of a dream that were behind my decision to pay for myself on Wednesday when work funding fell through at the last minute.
Making sense of a dream in real life – meeting the shoulds of a job to pay the bills against finding a way to do that which is authentic to who I am becoming … that is the first silver thread of my Lenten journey.
